Board of Directors Member
Electoral Officer
About the board:
The Our City Action Buffalo Board of Directors perform a number of essential roles. First, it assures the integrity, continuity, and financial solvency of the organization. Second, it provides staff with guidance and support in fundraising, outreach, and organization and programmatic development. Third, since OCAB is still in its start-up phase or seen as an emerging organization, the Board of Directors is a “Working Board.” What that means is that the Board of Directors actively participates in the organization’s daily activities.
Each member of the Board of Directors is expected to participate in all monthly meetings and other meetings outlined by the by-laws of the organization. They are also expected to either chair or participate in at least one organizational committee.
Most importantly, the Board ensures that Our City Action Buffalo leadership remains accountable to its members first and foremost and then its supporters and broader movement for equity and justice in Buffalo.
*Board Membership is unpaid.
About the role:
OCAB is a 501(c)4 organization that believes in using people power and electoral politics to move our agenda forward.
As our friends at Movement Generation often say, “If we’re not prepared to govern, we’re not prepared to win.”
The electoral officer will make sure that we’re following local, state, and federal laws to ensure that our organizing in this area remains strategic, disruptive, hopeful and powerful.
